Masala Papad

Papad offers endless opportunities to cooks. It is served in Indian restaurants with green chutney or it can be made into curry with spices and yogurt. Papads are made with urad dal with spices thrown in for the flavor.

Masala papad is a quick appetizer served in some restaurants in India. Over the time its recipe is changing and all kinds of topping are added to it. I like them best with fresh tomatoes and onions  which make it healthy and tasty at the same time.


Masala Papad

  • Papad --2
  • Onions-1/2 chopped finely
  • Tomatoes--1-2 (chopped finely)
  • Chilli Powder--1/4 teaspoon
  • Cilantro leaves--washed and cut finely
  • Lime Juice--1 teaspoon
  • Thin sev--1 Tablespoon


Roast the papad in microwave for about 40 seconds. Place it on a serving platter and distribute onions,tomatoes and cilantro on the top. Drizzle with chat masala, chilli powder, lime juice, sev and season with season with salt. 

Note-The papad can either be roasted in microwave or fried in oil.
